Nutritional counseling is a critical first step in exploring your nutritional goals. In our first session, we'll begin with a discussion of your medical history, eating preferences, food habits, and objectives. From there, we'll work together to develop an actionable and personalized plan that takes into account your unique circumstances – including medical, cultural, and socioeconomic needs. In subsequent sessions, we'll work together to monitor progress, set additional nutrition goals, and discuss the latest developments in the field. Areas of focus including the following:
- Oncology nutrition: prevention, treatment, survivorship
- General health and weight management
- Sports nutrition
- Menopausal symptom management
- Chronic fatigue syndrome management
- Pre and post natal nutrition
- Diabetes management
- Polycystic ovarian syndrome
- Elevated cholesterol
- Gastrointestinal health management
- Vegetarian diets
Macro and micro nutrient assessment
Through a 'diet recall,' we'll review your dietary intake to determine any excess or inadequate intake of certain food groups, vitamins or minerals. We'll then develop a specific plan to meet your nutrient needs.
We'll create an individualized supplement regimen to complement your food plan and meet your health goals. In addition, we'll evaluate your supplement choices for purity and adequacy while also accounting for potential food, nutraceutical and/ or drug-drug interactions.
Pantry and refrigerator evaluation
A pantry, refrigerator and freezer evaluation is a great complement to our nutritional goal-setting. It helps to bridge the specific nutrition recommendations with a detailed review of the products you eat on a daily basis. We'll also discuss food psychology and item placement within your kitchen to naturally encourage healthy choices.
Walking through a supermarket can be time consuming and overwhelming when you don't know what you're looking for. During the supermarket tour, we'll walk through aisle by aisle and discuss the essential factors to consider when selecting among products. The tour will equip you to be a super shopper and will make your future shopping trips as healthy and efficient as possible.
basic cooking lessons
Basic cooking lessons are great for people who may not be very comfortable in the kitchen. We'll work together to develop some key skills - whether it is how to quickly chop a pepper or how to efficiently prepare a healthy dinner for your family.
